Experience & Education:


Dr. Boles is a Consultant Electrophysiologist and Cardiologist since 2016 and worked in MPN since 2017 until 2022 and currently re-joined part time MPN and works in the HSE. He completed a certified two years advanced training programme in Cardiac arrhythmia, invasive electrophysiology and intracardiac device management at well renowned Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada.


Following his graduation, Dr. Boles completed his basic medical and cardiology specialist training schemes through The Royal College of Physicians in Ireland. He was appointed as a specialist registrar in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and Mater Misericordia University Hospital in Ireland. From 2010 to 2014 he was trained in the Royal Free Hospital in London, Southampton University Hospital and Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital, which was in conjunction with Cambridge University for certain sub specialities like Congenital heart diseases and pregnancy related heart diseases.

He completed his PhD degree from Sweden (Umeå University) with a thesis regarding Coronary Artery Disease. His leading work in this disease was published in internationally peer-reviewed journals and presented in most world’s distinguished Cardiology meetings. He also completed a Taught Master’s degree in Cardiology from Trinity College Dublin with a thesis about Electrical Remodelling of the Heart in Early Stage of Hypertension. Additionally, he has a postgraduate diploma from UCD, Dublin in Healthcare Management. He is certified through European Credits (ECs) system in advanced human biostatistics, research Ethics and Law from Sweden.

He is a Certified Invasive Cardiac Electrophysiologist accredited by Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada, and as a Fellow to Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS), USA.

 

Sub speciality Clinical Interests:

Arrhythmia and Cardiac device management is the main focus of his work. This includes invasive treatment of all cardiac arrhythmias by Ablation either complex (e.g. Complex Atrial Fibrillation and Ventricular ablations) or simple (e.g. Supraventricular ablations). He also implants simple devices for slow heart beats associated with fainting or syncope events, complex Cardiac resynchronisation devices to manage severe heart failure symptoms and defibrillator implants in primary and secondary prevention for sudden cardiac death. He also provides dedicated arrhythmia diagnostic services either remotely or through minimally invasive loop recorder implants that have 100% detection abilities of rhythm disturbances.In addition to Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) screening and risk assessment through various cardiac investigation tools and drug provocation tests. His clinical work in this field led to a discovery of a Gene Sequence responsible for fatal cardiac arrhythmia that was added to The International Genome Library. In addition, he has provided extensive review articles for management options in congenital arrhythmias.


Clinical Research & Professional Memberships:


In addition to his main attention to clinical work, Dr. Boles has a strong academic profile with more than 50 publications as a first, supervising author or co-author. In addition to more than 25 Cardiology presentations in national and international conferences in Europe and N. America.

He has published book in Coronary Artery Dilatation (A disease called Coronary Ectasia) and has co-authored and wrote chapters in another three cardiology books in the Arrhythmia field.

His distinguished career was accredited as a Fellow of the most prestigious international Cardiology and Arrhythmia committees; as a Fellow to the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (FRCPI), American Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS) and a Fellow in European Heart Rhythm Association (FEHRA).

Dr Raafat Ibrahim, Consultant Paediatrician with a special in interest in Diabetes and endocrinology.

Currently working at Portiuncula hospital, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.

He is adjunctive senior lecturer and clinical examiner in paediatric in Graduate Entry Medical School, Limerick University.

3-Re-vitamin deficiency “Relations between “Pitryasis Alba” and vitamins deficiency in primary school pupils in Egypt”1994.

Developed interest in Diabetes and Endocrine,

Last publication was last year (August 2021) in Journal of Diabetes Care for Children & Young People-UK.

Mr Mamoun Abdel-Rahman

Consultant Urologist

Mr Abdel-Rahman, Consultant Urological Surgeon graduated from the University of Khartoum in 2002. He was enrolled in the RCSI specialist Surgical Training followed by Speciality Training in Urology. Going forward he rotated between some of the major Irish teaching hospitals to complete the Surgical Training in Urology starting in Limerick and moving on to Dublin and Cork. In 2015 Mr. Abdel-Rahman obtained his master degree in Urology (ChM) from the University of Edinburgh. Then obtained the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Urology in 2016 and qualified as a Urology Specialist in 2018. 

Mr Abdel-Rahman worked as senior fellow in the National Centre for Kidney Transplant in Beaumont Hospital where he also did a period as a Consultant Urologist. 


Areas of interest include general male and female Urology, kidney cancer, bladder cancer and hematuria investigations, prostate cancer diagnostics, kidney stones and general pediatric urology.
